Dear Bear Den Moderators,
We are looking forward to seeing you this Friday, November 22nd at 6 pm!
If you are running late, please text Katey at 973-219-6980 with your name and ETA.
We are providing three documents:
- The panelist and moderator biographies (will also be printed and available at Registration)
- The panelist and moderator assignments and the presentation criteria
- Panelist assignments may change at the last minute depending on cancellations
- A campus map - parking is available in areas A, B, or C (green boxes, lower left on the map near Sitterly House and Lewis House). Enter the campus on Campus Drive, off of Madison Ave (aka Route 124)
What to expect at Bear Den & your role as a moderator:
- Registration starts at 6:00 in the Brothers College lobby
- Presentations begin at 6:30, and all are scheduled to end by 8:00
- Please come to the panelist registration desk in the Brothers College lobby to get your nametag, which will have your assigned classroom number printed on it
- As moderator, you will introduce the class and panelists, keep track of time, and make sure the panelist feedback is within the scope of evaluation based on this presentation criteria
- If students have any technical difficulties with showing their presentations, please call tech expert Jenna Corraro at 732-778-9941 and tell her what room you’re in; she will come to your classroom to help.
- Printed copies of the program schedule will be provided at the Registration desk
- Each presentation has an allotted time slot of 10 or 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of feedback from panelists
- Some presentations are shorter than their allotted time slots (i.e. 8 minutes), allowing for breaks between presentations for restroom breaks or students presenting twice
- Some students are presenting twice, and may be moving between classrooms during the evening
- Each presentation has an allotted time slot of 10 or 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of feedback from panelists
- Keeping track of time and staying on schedule is extremely important, to ensure that those students presenting twice will make it to their next presentation.
- Students who are presenting twice will be highlighted in red on the printed schedule.
- Students are provided the same schedule, and those students presenting twice are responsible for moving to their second classroom during one of the breaks between presentations
- If you have any accessibility issues, please let us know immediately so we can place you in a panel/classroom on the first floor
- Brothers College lounge will be used for the networking reception from 8 - 9 pm after the end of the presentations
- Please stay to network and meet the students - they’ve been given your bios and look forward to meeting you! Food and refreshments will be provided.
- We encourage you to approach our students and introduce yourselves. This may be the first time many students are in a networking situation.
- Here are some questions to begin the conversation: How did your presentation go? How does your presentation relate to your interests? Does your presentation relate to any potential career fields you are interested in?
- Attire for moderators and panelists is business or business casual
- Water bottles will be provided for panelists and moderators, but you are welcome to bring a reusable water bottle to refill on the first floor of Brothers College
The following expectations have been provided to students. We are providing them to you as well to help in your role as moderator.
What is expected of students:
- Dress professionally
- Engage with other students’ presentations
- Students are not permitted to leave or look at their phones during other presentations
