STAR Program

In 2025, JVS will introduce a new program designed to help people with disabilities find employment in the community, also known as Competitive Integrated Employment.  This “Skills, Training, and Readiness” or “STAR” program is a 27-week, highly-individualized concept divided into three phases.

Program Topics

Phase I: Ready

This phase features group activities that focus on developing social skills, job seeking skills, workforce readiness, and participating in hands-on experiences.

Phase II: Set

Participants will focus on advanced social skills, travel training, job seeking strategies, mentorships, and job skills with extended community-based activities that focus on learning job tasks.

Phase III:  Go

We work with the participants and their family members/caregivers and focus on finding competitive integrated employment, including opportunities for additional training in one of JVS’s job-specific training programs in our Center for Economic Opportunity. Participants may receive job coaching until they are secure in their position and/or enrolled in Long-Term Follow Along if warranted.
