STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Dear Bear Den Students,
Please read this important information about your participation and presentation at Drew's semi-annual Bear Den.

We look forward to seeing you Friday, November 22nd at 6:00 pm for check-in.
ONE PANEL will begin early - those students will be contacted and need to check in at 5:50 pm
What to expect at Bear Den:
- You will be emailed the final Bear Den schedule on the morning of 11/22
- All of the students who are presenting twice will have at least 20 minutes to get from one presentation to the next
- Bear Den presentations will take place in Brothers College classrooms
- Registration is at 6:00 pm in the BC lobby. Presentations start at 6:30 (except ONE at 6:15 pm), and all are scheduled to end by 8:00 pm
- Arrive at 6 pm with your student ID to swipe in and get your name tag - the classroom number(s) where you will be presenting will be printed on your name tag
- If you have any accessibility issues, please let us know immediately so we can place you in classrooms on the first floor
- BC lounge will be used for the networking reception (from 8 - 9 pm) after the presentations - your attendance at the networking event is required
- After all of the presentations have been completed in your classroom, you will move to the lounge for the networking portion of the evening; food, coffee, and tea will be provided
How to turn in/submit your presentation (DUE THURSDAY 11/21 11:59 pm):
- Review your presentation in an incognito/private browser BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

- Before presenting, you must review your presentation in an incognito/private browser to ensure that any videos or external links you include work and will be visible to the Bear Den audience.
- Alternatively, you can share your presentation with someone else and have them test the embedded links and videos.

- Submit your presentation to Google Classroom (only one student per presentation group is required to submit)

- Jenna Corraro posted an announcement to all students, on Google Classroom, with instructions on submitting their presentations

- All presentations must be finalized in Google Slides and submitted by THURSDAY 11/21 at 11:59 pm

- If you need to make any changes to your presentation after you turn it in: “Unsubmit” it, make your changes and resubmit.
- If you used Canva or another presentation format, please submit your link to your assignment on Google Classroom. Please check viewing permissions in Canva to make sure all can view it.
- If your presentation shows a website, video, or some resource that uses an external link, make sure it can be viewed when reviewing your presentation in an incognito/private browser.

- Review your presentation in an incognito/private browser AGAIN AFTER YOU SUBMIT
- If you do not complete the above steps and your presentation doesn’t work at Bear Den, you must present at a makeup session at a later date

What is expected from students (you!):
- Dress professionally

- If you do not have business attire, please make an appointment immediately with the Career Closet at Sycamore Cottage. The Career Closet is a free resource that provides any student with one professional outfit per year, yours to keep

- If you have an outfit in mind but are unsure if it is professional, email career@drew.edu who can provide guidance/advice

- Engage with other students’ presentations

- You are not permitted to leave or look at your phone during other presentations, which can be disruptive and rude to others
- Breaks are provided between presentations if you need to use the restroom or use your phone
- Prepare physical presentation notes
- DO NOT prepare presentation notes on your phone, computer, or other device
- Students are expected to have paper or notecards with notes
- Bring your own reusable water bottle

- Fill it on the first floor of BC before your presentation
- Students should avoid going to the lobby until all of the presentations are completed
- Network after your presentation (8 - 9 pm)
- Attendance at the networking portion of Bear Den is mandatory

- Networking is the best way to find internships and make valuable contacts for future jobs. Panelists in the past have offered internships to students on the spot during the networking portion of the evening

- Read them beforehand and try to meet professionals in the fields you are interested in. You can even connect with them on LinkedIn before Bear Den
- Most importantly, have fun! Students feel tremendous accomplishment (and relief) after all of your hard work. You will be one step closer to your goals!

Drew Career Closet
If anyone is in need of clothing, Sycamore House has a career closet and the clothes are in excellent shape and they are free. Students are allowed one free outfit per year. There are dresses, suits, blazers, pants, dress shirts, ties, and shoes. Even jewelry!
