Why is the Media Ignoring that New Direction New Jersey is an NJEA-funded vehicle?

New Jersey Globe reports that Gov. Murphy has questioned whose side Senate President Sweeney is on when it comes to the various programs and taxes wants in the state budget.
But whose side is the governor on?
On the side of New Jersey’s most powerful special interest and the lavishly compensated one-percenters in its leadership.
We know the governor appears front-and-center in TV ads run by a dark money group that is funded by $2.5 million from the NJEA – money that comes from taxpayer dollars and teachers’ dues. We know that these ads push the NJEA’s agenda in the same language the NJEA uses. We know that the NJEA strongly supported the election of Gov. Murphy and that former NJEA staffers currently hold high positions in the Murphy administration.
And we know that in 2015, there were six New Jersey one-percenters in the NJEA leadership, making over ten times what the average teacher makes, including NJEA Executive Director Ed Richardson at a cool $1.2 million. All coming from tax dollars and teachers’ dues.
So, governor, are you on the side of fat-cat special interests or New Jersey’s tax-paying middle class?
